With 75% of the tournament almost done, one of the most exciting games could be the one on 30th June ,India vs England. Both these teams have had a good tournament so far where Indian have emerged as the only team in the World Cup who remain unbeaten so far. Where as England started the tournament on a high but have suffered back to back losses to Sri Lanka and Australia.
England have got everything in place with their squad and also with their playing XI selection till now. Beginning from the openers to the middle order, all-rounders and then followed by the bowlers. Out of 7 matches played by them if we bring focus on their last 5 games i.e. against Bangladesh, west Indies,Afghanistan, sri Lanka and Australia they have managed to beat only West Indies and Bangladesh who are the other 2 strong teams seem to be challenging in the World Cup and Afghanistan as well which should not be as convincing victory as the others. Their performance lacked against Sri Lanka and Australia which led to 2 defeats in a row.
Now this could be used as an added advantage by India and make sure thy don’t let England’s top 4 be on the crease for a long time out there.
Secondly other than the 2 defeats to Sri Lanka and Australia one of the positives for England could be all-rounders performance. Ben Stokes has looked very good in both the games with scores of 82* and 89 which looked very satisfactory and almost brought his side over the line especially against Sri Lanka. Spinners in form of Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali have also looked economical in their bowling.
India on the other side look on top of their game with a few debatable concerns in the middle order. They are the only team in the World Cup to remain unbeaten which is only because of the top 3 batsmen and bowling department. Fielding also has a role to play in this unbeaten campaign so far. Fast bowling duo of Shami and Bumrah have not only picked wickets but also proved to be very economical in giving runs. Soon duo of chahal and kuldeep have been outstanding as always.
