IPL 2023 : Teams Preview-SRH vs DC [Match 34]

The Indian Premier League almost comes halfway and the quality of cricket that the spectators have got to witness is just too high. We have had everything from one-sided games to nail-bitters where the result was not clear until the last ball of the match. Teams Have shown some of the best finishes to winning a lost game. There is nothing that has not happened in these games. Here we are to have a glimpse of the 2 teams who have not had the best of the season and are also the bottom two teams.

Sunrisers are off the Mark?

Let us see How the Tournament has gone for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023. They started their campaign with a loss vs the Rajasthan Royals and subsequently to Lucknow Super Giants. To date, They have played 6 games in which in 4 such instances the SRH has failed to cross the mark of 150 runs, which shows how their batting has collapsed as a unit.

Except for Harry Brook who got a brilliant Hundred vs the Kolkata Knight Riders, but he hasn’t delivered after that as he has struggled to get even past 20 runs since that century. Hyderabad’s batting has been at the bottom even in terms of the Scoring rate as they have the least strike rate among the other teams. SRH’s bowling has been slightly better but the absence of Umran’s form like in the 2022 season, has made the team quite troubled and unstable.

There were occasions where players like Rahul Tripathi, and Aiden Markram showed some sign of run-scoring ability but that didn’t last too long as they haven’t been able to consistently perform for the Team which has a major role to play in the Downfall of SRH this season. When it came to Bowling, every game saw a new bowler take up the responsibility and other bowlers also supported with 1-2 scalps under their belt. Mayank Markande, Adil Rashid, and Marco Jansen are some of them who stood up when it was needed.

Will Delhi Capitals get an extended win-streak?

Delhi Capitals are probably one of the most complete teams on paper, but things have gone just the opposite for the Capitals when the started their campaign. They started their campaign with 5 consecutive losses which is not expected of a team which has multiple Match-winners in form of David Warner, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Mark Wood etc. Delhi ‘s Batting is yet to make a statement except for David Warner who has been scoring consistently for them with four 50+ scores at a strike rate of 120.76 and an Average of 47.50.

If we take a look at the Bowling of the Capitals we will find some of the best bowlers who can single-handedly pull the game in favour for them as they have likes of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav who are consistently doing good as a spin duo. Kuldeep who is spinning his way through the teams and giving them a tough time has been at his best when he plays vs SRH.

when we look at their Pace attack they have some serious wicket-takers like Mark Wood, whose performances have placed him in the race for highest wickets as well as the best figures tally. He has also bagged a 5-wicket haul this season. Anrich Nortje is one of those bowlers who has been an obstacle for teams in the powerplay and Middle Overs. He is yet to give performances which are equal to his stature and maybe that could be His chance in the game versus the Sunrisers. Well Delhi Had a brilliant spell from the Veteran Fast bowler Ishant Sharma who was quite economical in the last game he played for Delhi.

Match-ups Time!

It is always exciting to see 2 players head-on versus one another. So is the case with this game where we do have a few Match ups to look for.

1. Brook Vs Nortje: This one would be an interesting one as Harry Brook who has lost some touch after the hundred vs KKR will look to use Nortje Pace to score some runs as he loves to bat against quick bowlers. On the contrary, it will be interesting to see how Nortje will go against the English batsman as he will have to come up with plans to trap him as quickly as possible and get those crucial wickets in the middle overs.

2. Warner vs Umran: Warner Has been consistent with his runs scoring ability, but one thing which could be exploited by Umran Malik will be his Slower Approach this season. He has batted with a strike rate of just 120.76 which is very ordinary for a batsman like David Warner. Umran who is not in the same form as the previous season in 2022 will have a chance to trouble Warner as He hasn’t been in that Hard-hitting zone. Probably Umran Malik could have a couple of Wickets in this game, starting with Warner Himself.

Conclusion :

Both teams desperately need a victory here for them to make the road ahead a little easy as the experienced ones need to step up for their respective Teams and Give out those crucial and result-oriented performances. It will not be easy for the batting of both Teams as the Bowling of both Teams has done reasonably well against quality batting line-ups.
